Believe in the power of community. On some days when you feel big goals are impossible, or when you feel like giving up, you need to lean on your like-minded community. You can even “borrow” motivation, and in turn “return” with your own inspiring stories to pay it forward.
In this special column called the “TLC x Fempreneurs Series”, we will be featuring inspiring Female Entrepreneurs (Fempreneurs) in short. You will be able to have a sneak peek at their mindset and their daily habits.

Tell us a little about yourself.
I am Michelle Hon, also known as @thechillmom. I am the founder of MomBoss Academy, an author, a speaker, a podcaster and entrepreneur, focused on helping moms fulfil their dreams by creating a purposeful source of income for themselves. I started my business from home while raising 3 children.
What got you started on your business?
I was a stay-at-home mom and I found myself relying on my husband 100% financially. I wanted to feel useful (beyond house chores), financial independence and the flexibility of time to be there for my children’s growing years.
Before you started on your business, what did you do on a full time basis?
When my daughter, Lauren was born, I gave up a soup and salad business, which I built from scratch because I didn’t want to miss out on her childhood. Yet, I felt so unfulfilled being a stay-at-home mom.
So, I started a blog. The blog grew into a consultancy business. I published a book, became a speaker and work with the biggest brands in the world.
And I founded MomBoss Academy, dedicated to help moms turn their dreams into a profitable reality, using the exact formula of how I grew multiple 6-figure businesses from home.
What were some difficulties you faced in your life and how did you overcome them?
I’ve had so many difficulties in life. But I don’t see it as something I have to overcome. It is part of the journey. I expect things to be difficult, I plan for it, I learn from whoever who has dealt with it before and I keep moving forward.
What is your vision / personal motto?
If you think you can, you can. If you think you can’t, you’re right too.
Who inspires you?
Everyone. I get inspired by successful people and how they “made” it and the not-so-successful people inspire me even more because I don’t want to repeat their mistakes. I learn from everyone. Take time to listen to their stories. You’ll be amazed at what you’ll learn.
Do you have any word of advice for other ladies who are starting their business / starting to pursue their dream?
There will be hard days. Because if it’s easy, everyone would be doing it. Push on and learn from someone who’s already been there and done that will save you lots of time and money.
How do you think you can help ladies to feel confident and empowered?
My company, Michelle Hon International, exists to help moms live happy and confident motherhood through content, books, services, products, courses and mentorship program. So yeah, helping them feel confident and empowered is the core of what I do.
What excites you most about your industry?
I help moms live the best life! It’s very fulfilling.
What have you learnt recently that you hope the other ladies can take back?
This isn’t recent but it’s the most profound, empowering and scary thing that I’ve learnt: You life, your happiness is in your own hands.
What is one thing you are grateful for?
What do you do in your free time as self care? How do you unwind?
I eat chocolates and I do my nightly skincare routine – sometimes it’s 5 steps, sometimes it takes 12 steps, depending on my mood.
Let us know more about your business, Momboss Academy!
Let me tell you why I’m in this business: My mom was a stay-at-home mom. She dedicated her life to her children and even though she had dreams of her own, she never got to realise them. She passed away at 35. All she was lacked was a mentor, someone whom she can learn from and ask questions. My goal is to help moms like my mom, coach them and invest in their business.
