The Brand Story
Sing Swee Kee was founded in 2001, as popularity grew among local and foreign visitors, they expanded its premise into a full-service restaurant retaining its roots in Seah Street, the Hainan Street 海南三街 of Singapore opposite the iconic Raffles Hotel.
While the menu has expanded over time, it is their tender, juicy Hainanese blanched chicken, paired with fragrant chicken rice, with their home recipe of garlic chili sauce and green ginger puree formulated by our Hainanese pioneers, that their loyal local and overseas friends and customers have come to trust and indulge in.
For their Family Set A at just $34.90, the spread came with it was more than enough to feed a family of 4. This makes it one of the most worth it meals. The menu allows customers to select between the choices of roasted, white, or even mixed. My family and I tried the mixed to get a taste of both worlds. Other than the chicken, you will also be able to choose from other side dishes. We ordered their Kai Lan and Spring Rolls. You will also be able to add-on with their delicious Honey Pork Ribs as well!
The most important character in any chicken rice is definitely the fragrance of the rice, which Sing Swee Kee has definitely nailed it. The amount of rice given was super filling. It has a strong scent of garlic and onion which definitely brings us back to the past. Their famous chili and green ginger puree also helped to accentuate the flavour of the rice with its additional garlic, ginger, and spicy kick. However, for friends who do not like garlic, the chili may not be a good addition to your rice.
Next up, we tried their signature mixed chicken. The chicken meat is tender and juicy which makes it easy for anyone to bite through and chew. The sauce is also one of my favourites due to the saltiness that well complements the chicken. The roasted chicken carries the fragrance with it while the white chicken is smooth and easy to eat. If you would like to try them separately, you can also get their Whole Roast Chicken at $32, and their Whole White Chicken at the same price.
The other side dishes such as Kai Lan and Spring Rolls are also delicious add-ons that can help to fill up your stomach space. However, do take note that Spring Rolls are best eaten fresh as there is a chance that it will turn soggy when delivered to your house.
My favourite dish out of the entire set is definitely the Honey Pork Ribs. It is one of the juiciest pork ribs that I have ever tried and the meat is so tender that one bite is enough the break the meat up. I have always been a lover of sweet food and the Honey Pork Ribs definitely satisfied my sweet tooth. If you do not mind the extra cost, I do recommend you get it. You won’t regret it!
Recently, Sing Swee Kee has launched a premium chicken collagen soup, only using chicken and simmering it for 10 hrs breaking down the goodness of collagen into the soup. Their team ensures that the take home pack is without even Salt, MSG, preservatives.
